Hard-work, family values, a focus on people and a
commitment to service excellence

History History History History

The history of LE Walker Transport illustrates that hard-work, family values, a focus on people and a commitment to service excellence all can lead to growth and prosperity. We are a third generation, mid-sized transportation services provider founded in 1947 as ET Walker Transport.

During the 1950s, Larry and Ted Walker worked closely with their parents Evan and Lola to establish a trucking company where the customer's needs came first. This dedication to customer satisfaction allowed the company to prosper through the 1960s and build its first terminal in Aylmer, Ontario.

In the 1970s our operating licenses were enhanced to allow expanded coverage to the greater Toronto area and access to large international markets. In 1978 Jean and Larry Walker purchased the company and changed its name to LE Walker Transport to properly reflect the new family ownership.

The 1980s saw the third generation of the Walker family, sisters Laurie (1981), Wendie (1982) and Julie (1983), join their parents in the family business. LE Walker Transport expanded its service to include trade between Canada and the United States soon after.

During the 1990s the Walker sisters joined their mother in executive roles within the company. During this decade the company surpassed six million miles traveled, established a Special Commodities Division for heavy haul and flatbed customer requirements, exceeded $10 million in annual sales and relocated to a new industry-leading terminal and maintenance facility in St. Thomas, Ontario.

We celebrated 60 years in business in 2007 and LE Walker Transport continues to evolve to support the ever-changing needs of our customers. We’ve introduced an owner-operator driver program to support our growth goals and established a logistics division to provide non-asset based transportation solutions to our customers. We also continue to look for additional opportunities to provide customers with value in their buying decisions – the Walker way.
